Education Matters: Equity and Student Achievement

 

BOE President Shirley Brandman discusses the importance of equity in the classroom, how teachers are working to create culturally responsive classrooms and schools, and how this will foster higher student achievement, especially among the school system’s minority students.

  • Heather Yuhaniak, a staff development teacher at Neelsville Middle School who also in involved with the Equity Certificate Program for teachers
  • Michael Williams, a teacher at Walter Johnson High School who also runs the Minority Scholars Program at his school
