Timothy Hwang Elected New Student Member of the Board

Tim Hwang is the Student Member of the Board for the 2009–2010 school year.

Timothy Hwang, a junior at Thomas S. Wootton High School, has been elected Student Member of the Board of Education for 2009–2010.

More than 84 percent of the students who were eligible to vote cast ballots in the April 29 election, conducted by the Montgomery County Region of the Maryland Association of Student Councils. Hwang was chosen by more than 56 percent of the secondary students who voted. His opponent, Jiayi Yang, a junior at Richard Montgomery High School, received 43.5 percent of the vote.

Hwang will begin his term as the 32nd Student Member of the Board on July 1.
