Interpreters work in real time to facilitate oral communication among speakers of different languages. Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) maintains contacts with a pool of MCPS employees and contractors to provide oral interpretation to facilitate communications between international families and local schools. Emergency services are available through an MCPS contractor.
School staff who are arranging meetings with parents who need interpretation services are asked to complete Part 2 of MCPS Form 311-10: Request for Interpreters (PDF) and send it to Interpretations@mcpsmd.org no less than 10 working days prior to the preferred date for meeting .
Interpretation equipment is available for use at large meetings and events where multiple language populations are in attendance. Interpretation equipment is requested by completing and submitting Part 3 of MCPS Form 311-10: Request for Interpreters.
Sign-language interpretation services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing are provided by Programs for Students Who Are Deaf and Hard of Hearing. |
