MCYC-- STEP 7: About Expectations

MCYC is an honors chorus composed of students from all schools in the county. It allows students to sing music they may not be able to do in their home schools. It is an honor and an obligation to be taken seriously.

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Attendance at all rehearsals is mandatory.
  • Appropriate behavior and care for personal and school property is expected.
  • All MCPS policies apply to participation in the youth chorus.
  • Failure to follow these policies and guidelines may result in dismissal from MCYC.

Membership in MCYC is an honor.  To help achieve the highest possible level of singing, attendance is expected at all rehearsals.  If emergency circumstances cause an absence, students may be required to demonstrate their knowledge of the music in an appointment with the director or manager, before gaining re-admittance.

Members are expected to act in a professional manner and to remain focused throughout the rehearsal.  Appropriate behavior and care for personal and school property is expected.  All MCPS policies apply to participation in Youth Chorus.  Failure to follow these policies and guidelines may result in dismissal from MCYC.

Music and folders (provided by MCYC) should be brought to every rehearsal and returned after the final performance.  Singers should also bring a pencil to each rehearsal.  The concert attire will be announced by the director.
