- An extensive outline of the culture, history, and current situation of every country by the Library of Congress. Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the page to get the list of countries.
- The Electronic Embassy
- Information from the foreign embassies in Washington, D.C., and links to their Web sites.
- Fast Facts On The Fifty States
- Just the basics -capital, population, bird, nickname, flower, and a link to the state home page.
- INFONATION
- A database of geographic, economic, social and population information provided by the United Nations. Choose which country and data you would like displayed in a table.
- The WorldFactbook, 1997 from the CIA
- Contains maps,flags, economic, geographic, government and population data for every country. Update for 1997 is much easier to use.
- E-Conflict

- National Geographic Map Machine
- An on-line atlas which will generate very nice maps of any country desired.

- Large collection of electronic maps.
- State Information from the United States Census Bureau

- Games, puzzles, lessons based on the wealth of information the United Nations collects every year.

- An interactive site by National Geographic that allows students to explore what's in a forest.
- Latitude and Longitude- USA
- Latitude and Longitude - Other Countries
- These sites give the latitude and longitude of various major cities around the the United States and the world. The first column gives the latitude in degrees and minutes. The second column gives the longitude in degrees and minutes.
- Statistical Reports on Maryland Counties
- Choose the county and type of information you want, then let this web site create a statistical report.
- What do Maps Show? from the United States Geologic Survey
- This teaching packet with four accompanying lessons and a colorful graphics is appropriate for grades 4-8. The graphics show several views of Salt Lake City and, combined with the lessons, teaches students basic geographic and cartographic skills.
