Humanities House students will pursue a rigorous humanities curricula with an interdisciplinary connection among English, social studies, communications, and fine arts. Humanities students will be able to integrate oral and written communication skills with state-of-the-art visual media. The Humanities House is one of three magnet programs at Poolesville High School.

The Humanities House is open to applicants from the following high school clusters: Clarksburg, Damascus, Gaithersburg, Magruder, Northwest, Poolesville, Quince Orchard, Seneca Valley, or Watkins Mill. Poolesville High School is a whole-school magnet program, divided into three houses: Global Ecology House, Humanities House, and Science, Mathematics, Computer Science House.

Admission to the Humanities House is very competitive. To be eligible, students must be enrolled in Algebra 1 or higher by Grade 8. Criteria used to evaluate candidates include teacher recommendations, written statements from candidates, previous grades, coursework, test scores, and interests and achievements.
