Tools for Teaching:
Resources for Study Groups

Overview

Tools for Teaching presents a unified program for classroom teachers integrating discipline, instruction, and motivation. Tools for Teaching is a culmination of three decades of research by Dr. Fred Jones with teachers and describes a research based classroom management system in detail. These highly successful and proven strategies are practical and can be used in any MCPS classroom. The content of Tools for Teaching is also part of SST2 and SST for Paraeducators.

In addition to a text, Dr. jones offers a free Study Group Activity Guide available for school support at www.fredjones.com. The Study Group Activity Guide provides a training plan for twelve school meetings in which teachers discuss what they read, share ideas, solve problems, and practice the strategies.

On this site, you will also find agendas for all 12 study group sessions, reading assignments, as well as data collection tools. All documents have been done in Microsoft Word. Feel free to adapt them to best meet your needs. Instructional Specialists at the Center for Skillful Teaching are happy to support you as you study Tools for Teaching.
