About this Lesson

Young children have a strong, intuitive understanding of informal mathematics before they enter school their daily experiences provide them with many opportunities to develop strategies that help them deal with events in their lives. teachers can present children with similar problem solving experiences by providing environments that support problem solving and expecting children to explain their thinking or reasoning in mathematical problem solving.
