Math Labs Program:
Measures of Central Tendency

About this Project

  • The Math Lab Classroom program is a professional development opportunity for classroom teachers and staff development teachers. The Math Lab Classroom teachers have agreed to invite observers into their classrooms to see how they effectively manage differentiated math instruction.

Instruction in the Math Lab classrooms is based on the math block schedules and sequences of lessons recommended in the MCPS instructional guides. Observers can expect to see teachers using strategies such as stations, centers, anchor activities, exit cards, audit cards, etc. to meet the needs of a variety of learners.

The video on this website features a fourth grade math lab lesson in which the teacher differentiates her instruction using centers. For more information:
o Feature Lesson Math Block Structure (MS Word)
o Additional models of math block structures for differentiation. (PPT)
