New Teachers/Mentors

The primary goal of the NTI Program is to support and retain novice and experienced new-to-MCPS educators through a comprehensive induction system that improves instructional practice. The secondary goal of NTI is to develop the leadership capacity of new-to-MCPS educators, mentors, and other critical personnel. These goals support student achievement.

FEBRUARY NEO

YOU’RE INVITED! New educators who were hired after last fall’s New Educator Orientation (NEO) are invited to attend a one-day orientation on February 16, 2010, at the Lathrop E. Smith Environmental Education Center in Rockville. Registration will be available in December through the PDO system.

MENTORING PROGRAM NOW AVAILABLE FOR 2009-2010

The mentor memo with the verification form and program details has been sent to principals. Schools and departments can move forward with their mentor assignments. Please email Susan Mitchell if you need another copy of the memo and/or the forms or if you have any further questions.

The deadline to return verification forms is October 30, 2009. Forms need to be into OOD by the deadline to assure mentors are eligible for the mentoring stipend. The stipend remains the same as last year.

Thank you for your support of the program and your patience.
