Enduring Understanding for the Institute
Effective school leadership teams drive quality teaching and learning.
Collaborative decision making is the cornerstone of highly effective leadership.

Overview of the Institute
The institute offers school leadership teams the opportunity to participate in high quality professional development on effective team collaboration and empowerment. Each workshop is designed so that leadership teams have time to apply the new strategies, skills, and processes to their specific, real-time needs and interests.
The purpose of the institute is to support school leadership teams in their school improvement process. Institute workshops will build the capacity of members of the leadership team, and thereby contribute to improved school performance and student achievement. Current workshops developed by the institute include the following:
Leadership teams are encouraged to begin with the first workshop, Shared Leadership. This workshop provides a common base of understanding about highly effective teams, as well as self-assessment of team needs and priorities. It also provides a brief introduction to the other sessions, enabling each leadership team to select the additional workshops in which they wish to participate based on their self-assessment. Teams can choose to participate in as many, or as few, workshops as they believe meet their own needs.
