The primary function of Art Imaging and Prepress is to make
documents ready for print in various production environments.
EGPS prepress staff members receive original artwork or electronic
files that contain documents laid out as finished pages from
authors in EGPS Graphic Composition and Montgomery County
agencies, then perform a variety of tasks such as:
- making sure all pictures and other graphics are in a
suitable format,
- applying halftone screens to images,
- separating the colors for spot or process colors,
- checking that all fonts are coming through correctly,
- checking general layout guidelines, such as margins and
paper size,
- arranging pages correctly prior to printing so that they
fold in the correct order, and
- exposing digital images
of the pages directly onto aluminum printing plates.
