 My Palm battery has died. How do
I set up my Palm for the assessment? |

 How do I get my data back after
my battery has died? |
| After
your Palm has lost power, you cannot retrieve
any data or assessments from the Palm that had
not been synced to the mCLASS™ website.
Assessments that were on the Palm that have not
been synced to the mCLASS™ website are lost,
these students will need to be retested |
 How can I determine if my last
sync was successful? |
| Log
into the mCLASS™ website. Look in the upper
right hand corner for the sync status area. This
will tell you the last date and time you were
able to successfully sync. |
 How do I sync my Palm? |
- Connect the Palm to the computer using
the USB cord (make sure the Palm is turned
on).
- Double click on the HotSync® icon located
in the Programs folder (icon with red and
blue arrows).
- Log into Outlook.
- Tap the “Star” soft button
on your Palm. (HotSync® button)
- You should see the sync process happen.

 Can I sync from my Home Computer? |
| No,
you can only sync using your MCPS computer. |
 Can I sync from a Mac? |
| No,
mCLASS™ is not supported on the Mac. |
 The HotSync® icon is missing
from my “Programs” folder. |
| Restart
computer and log in again or try a different computer.
If you are still unable to see the HotSync®
icon contact the Help Desk. |
 My hard drive was re-imaged, now
I cannot sync my Palm. |
The
school's ITSS may need to reinstall the Palm and
mCLASS™ software; contact the Help Desk
to report the problem.

 I don’t see the HotSync®
icon in the system tray after I double click on
it. |
| Some
tech mod schools have security that prevents users
from seeing icons in the system tray. |
 I am unable to sync, now what? |
- You will need
to have Outlook open and you must be logged
in for the mClass™ Sync process to work.
- Verify that
you can log into the mCLASS™ webpage.
Then verify that the user id and password,
that allows you to log into the mCLASS™
webpage, is entered into the Palm.
- On your Palm's
main screen, tap the WG Sync icon to open
the WG Sync application.
- In the User
Name field, enter your mCLASS™ username.
- In the Password
field, enter your mCLASS™ password.
(Note: The username and password you enter
on the PDA must be the same as those you use
to access the mCLASS™ web site)
- Double click
on the HotSync® icon located in the Programs
folder (icon with red and blue arrows).
- Tap the “Star”
soft button on your Palm. (HotSync® button)
- You should see
the sync process happen.
If
you are still unable to sync report the problem
to the Help Desk. |
 While syncing, the sync failed
and now the Palm seems to be frozen or locked. |
| Perform
a soft reset by pressing the small reset button
located on the back of your palm. No data will
be lost by doing a soft reset, but the palm will
be forced to restart. |
 I am able to sync but some or all
of my uploaded scores are missing from the mCLASS™
webpage. |
Check
the date on your
Palm (the date needs to be correct before synchronizing).
To do this: Turn on the Palm-->tap on the
Prefs icon-->tap Date and Time-->set your
location, the date and the time and then tap
done.
Note:The time and date on your desktop computer
does not affect the sync.

These features are not supported by the
Help Desk, but users are encouraged to experiment
with them to become familiar with the Palm.

on my Palm? |
Turn on the Palm-->tap on the Prefs
icon-->tap Date and Time-->set your
location, the date and the time and then
tap done.

 My Palm is not responding when
using the stylus. |
Re-digitize - Press Home
button, select Preferences icon, select
Touchscreen and then follow the onscreen
directions.

 My Palm is not responding to taps
when selecting sounds or letters in mCLASS™/DIBLES™
testing situation. |
Rather than just tap,
draw a small line to the right to select
the letters or sounds.

 My battery doesn't seem to hold
a charge for very long. |
Turn down brightness
on screen; turn off when not in use; charge
daily.

 My Palm is damaged. Who should
I call? |
Contact the Help Desk (301-517-5800) to
report the problem.

 My Palm was lost / stolen. |
If stolen report to police and the MCPS
Security Coordinator of the school and then
call the Help Desk (301-517-5800) to report
the incident.

 I lost my stylus. |

report the problem.

 I have lost one of my cables, how
can I get a replacement? |

 What does an asterisk next to a
book's title mean? |
Teacher manually entered this book and
there will not be any text shown on the
Palm.

 What happens to scores when student
changes teachers or schools? |
Scores follow the student as long as they

 I have forgotten my mCLASS™
password |
Call the Help Desk (301-517-5800) with
your employee id number so we can reset
it.

 I am sure I’m using the correct
user id and password but I am unable to log into
the mCLASS™ webpage. |
When your mCLASS™ account was created
if the user id or password has an uppercase
letter then your mCLASS™ user id and
password is case sensitive.

 Can I change the password I use
to log into the mCLASS™ website? |

it.

 The mCLASS™ webpage keeps
expiring, can I prevent this? |
Use specific navigation links on page rather
than back button on your browser.

- Select student’s name
- Tap on measure to be deleted; i.e.,
ISF, etc
- Tap on PROBE

- Select measures; i.e., ISF, PSF, NWF

Issues

 I’m unable to see one of
my students on the mCLASS™ Palm. |
Go to the mCLASS™ website and add
the student to your class or group, then
sync. If the student is still not showing
up in the class call the Help Desk.

 Can I clear Anchors on my Palm? |
Do not clear Anchors
on your Palm. Clearing anchors marks
the test results on the Palm as if they
had been synced to the mCLASS™ webpage,
even if they have not been uploaded.
