WORKING TITLE: Coordinator, Support Services Staffing GRADE: N MONTHS: 12
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under direction, serves as leader of a staffing team, coordinates the activities of the team, and supervises the members of the team. Coordinates and participates in recruiting, selecting, and assigning support staff and substitute personnel to schools and offices. Reviews evaluations and disciplinary actions, and participates in hearings related to evaluations and adverse actions. Meets regularly with directors, principals, and coordinators to determine personnel needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Thorough knowledge of school system organization. Thorough knowledge of Board of Education, state and federal laws, and rules and regulations pertaining to employment. Thorough knowledge of SEIU Local 500 agreement. Exceptional interpersonal skills, oral and written communications, and leadership and supervisory skills. Ability to represent Department of Recruitment and Staffing at state and local personnel organizations. Ability to plan recruitment for wide range of jobs to diverse populations.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Master's degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in business administration or personnel; experience in data analysis. Experience in leadership and supervision. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities and skills necessary to perform effectively in he position may be considered.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.) Ability to work unusual hours and overtime as required by staffing projects, including overnight stay, if required. Limited summer leave.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reviews and evaluates applications, transcripts, references, and other credentials in regard to initial employment; makes recommendations for employment; assigns personnel to salary schedules; establishes salary placement for personnel in view of previous experience, military service, or related experience.

Assists in the development of programs and long-range plans concerning personnel recruitment and other problems. Makes recommendations for recruiting diverse applicants.

Maintains system of position control for supporting services positions.

Advises associate superintendents, principals, directors, and other MCPS stake holders of applicants who are available for employment.

Reviews and recommends appropriate action on filling of vacancies.

Discusses human resources problems with appropriate MCPS staff. Participates in the formulation of personnel policies for the Montgomery County Public Schools.

Maintains orientation program for new supporting services employees.

Keeps the director of staffing and recruitment fully informed of human resources problems that occur.

Supervises and evaluates persons assigned to staffing team.

Participates in Board of Educations negotiations with SEIU Local 500.

Performs other duties as assigned.
