WORKING TITLE: Supervisor, Middle School Program Expansion GRADE: O MONTHS: 12
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Oversees the implementation and monitoring of middle school expansion courses to ensure alignment with Maryland standards and outcomes. Provides direct support to schools to facilitate effective implementation of curriculum, assessments, and instructional practices. Supports the design and delivery of professional development that ensures fidelity of curriculum implementation across all middle schools. Monitors program implementation including student achievement in expansion courses. Reports on implementation progress and makes recommendations for improvement. Develops and maintains a budget for expansion course implementation, professional development, supplies, materials, technology and equipment. Collaborates with schools and central office staff to ensure an effective implementation of courses.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Thorough knowledge of the instructional programs of the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). Knowledge of research and best practices in the development and implementation of rigorous, engaging required and elective course offerings. Ability to design and lead special projects related to the development and implementation of new school-based programs. Ability to develop and design monitoring tools to collect data on program implementation and student achievement. Effective group facilitator. Outstanding oral, written communication and problem solving skills.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Master's degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university with specialization in the area of curricula and/or administration. Experience as a counselor/teacher, instructional specialist, curriculum coordinator, assistant principal, magnet coordinator, and/or principal. Administrative and supervisory certification and experience required. Experience providing leadership in designing, planning, and implementing instructional programs. Experience with the student enrollment process, curriculum development, student articulation, course registration, and program marketing. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Meets Maryland certification requirements for secondary teacher. Coursework in administration and supervision required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Supervises and coordinates planning and implementation of new, rigorous, engaging elective and required courses in middle schools. Monitors the implementation of middle school program expansion courses.

2. Manages implementation of programs for Middle School Magnet Consortia.

3. Develops and maintains a budget including professional development, technology, materials and supplies for expansion courses.

4. Communicates with local schools on course offerings.

5. Serves as a liaison between the Department of Enriched and Innovative Programs and schools and other offices in MCPS.

6. Collaborates with the Office of the Chief Technology Officer and Office of Organizational Development.

7. Performs related duties as assigned.
