Technology Implementation Specialist

WORKING TITLE: Technology Implementation Specialist GRADE: BD MONTHS: 12
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under direction, provides a wide variety of supports to meet the needs of schools and offices related to system goals for the effective implementation of technology systems; assists in developing and leading training for the use of technology systems across schools and offices. Exhibits expertise in using Web 2.0 tools to author and facilitate hybrid and online professional development, develop self-directed training modules, guides, and materials; and collaborates with schools and offices to support the implementation of system initiatives and projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Understanding and demonstration of highly effective professional development practices; effective collaboration with colleagues; knowledge, application, and modeling of professional development practices reflective of latest research; ability to work effectively with classroom teachers, principals, and central office colleagues; strong experience in using technology to improve instruction, lead professional development, create training materials, and implement technology systems on a district/system level; excellent human relations skills; experience working with adult learners; strong written and oral communication skills. Knowledge and application of the six performance standards that have been established for the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Teacher Professional Growth System (TPGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Masters or Masters Equivalent (MEQ) from an accredited college or university with emphasis on teaching, school leadership, curriculum, instruction, professional development, and/or instructional technology; minimum of five years outstanding teacher level experience; demonstrated excellence in use of instructional technology. A minimum of five years experience working in a classroom, and effectively integrating technology into the instruction.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Holds a current Maryland state standard and advanced professional certificate in a teaching area
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) Must be able to move materials/equipment to and from different training sites.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.) A valid drivers license

Provides professional development opportunities and develops training materials on system initiatives, new technologies, and central office projects.

Collaborates with central office colleagues to support the development of customized training and skill-building opportunities for MCPS employees in schools and offices on instructional and business systems.

Supports the effective implementation of system initiatives including school and central office projects using web-based, online platforms and other technologies

Designs and implements professional development and training that is accessible and engaging for all adult learners using knowledge of Universal Design for Learning, effective differentiation, equitable practices, and culturally relevant curriculum.

Provides direct support to targeted schools and offices related to system initiatives and central office projects.

Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
