Testing Support Assistant

WORKING TITLE: Testing Support Assistant GRADE: 15 MONTHS: 12
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under direction of the testing and reporting unit Supervisor in the Office of Shared Accountability manages the receipt, secure storage environment, and distribution of school testing materials ensuring that schools comply with Maryland State regulations for administering the assessments used in the Testing accountability model.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Working knowledge of state and federally mandated assessment programs. Knowledge of testing procedures and practices both online and hardcopy test materials. Ability to communicate testing procedures to school staff and administrators, answers questions about the proper handling of testing materials, test security, and student accommodations. Knowledge of Maryland state and local assessments such as MSAA, Alt-MISA, the ACCESS for ELLs English Language Proficiency Assessment, MHSA assessments, PARCC assessments and the InView cognitive assessment in elementary schools. Considerable knowledge of the operation of computer terminals, desktop computers and standard software or mainframe programs used to access and utilize data files; working knowledge of business English and spelling; working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases. Ability to layout and format data file structures and to modify and update such structures as required; ability to explain data requirements to technical staff in order to design, implement and test database systems; ability to operate computer devices to manipulate data files and to produce required reports; ability to communicate effectively with others; ability to work for prolonged periods of time at a computer terminal. Skill in the proficient operation of computer terminals. Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: High School degree required. Associates Degree preferred with course work in MS Office software and hardware. Progressively responsible experience in using computer terminals in word processing, working with a variety of assessments (online and hardcopy materials) from pre-administration to post-administration tasks, database or spreadsheet software applications. Training in online platforms used for online testing and scanning of secure paper test materials such as TestNav and PearsonAccessNEXT by Pearson, Measured Progress and iTester is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) Ability to lift and move and store testing materials.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides technical support and assistance to schools during multiple assessment administrations (PARCC, MSAA, Alt-MISA, HSAs, MISA)

Provides troubleshooting and technical support to schools during testing.

Assists with data requests from schools.

Coordinates packing of secure and non-secure materials for delivery to schools. (InView)

Coordinates and manages materials for secure storage and shredding.

Maintains files for filling additional requests for paper testing materials and requests to register homeschooled students for testing.

Coordinates with DMM the delivery of secure and non-secure materials to school and return materials at completion of the assessment (InView).

Uploads files to Assessment Collaboration Site and Administrative Documents for the Testing and Reporting Unit, the Applied Research Unit, and for ESOL accountability.

Check testing data for accuracy before publication (myMCPS, BOE Memos, Annual Reports, and Home Reports).

Provides technical support and troubleshooting among department in OSA.

Provides score reports to parents and schools as requested.

Manages hard copy distribution for Home Reports to Schools and Parents.

Performs related duties as assigned.
