SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under general direction, from a team leader or supervisor. in the Division of Maintenance (DOM), serves as one of the primary technical supports for software and hardware technology.. Staff in this job family provides all levels of user support and technology administration both hardware and software, troubleshooting problems and supporting staff use in a timely manner. Installs a variety of software packages and products. Based on the assigned level, this work may include analyzing and resolving problems related to workstations, networks, servers, wireless devices, and printers; performing systems analysis; designing and implementing configuration changes; end-user support and technical training; guidance and/or supervision to full-, part-time and/or hourly employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Can demonstrate knowledge of principles, concepts, and methods of applicable computer technology and its most effective and efficient utilization; good knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, instructional technology requirements; knowledge of standard microcomputer operating systems and the software used in a network environment; knowledge of multiple microcomputer and network operating systems, and proficiency at standard desktop and communications applications and protocols; and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Understanding of current computer operating systems and related system software such as Windows 7 or higher, XML, HTML, web design, current Windows Server and Java. Preference given for Maximo and Actuate BIRT reporting tool experience. Experience with MS SQL required. Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment; handle multiple projects, react quickly to hardware/software issues and provide innovative and effective approaches to improve staff experiences using software/hardware tools. Flexibility, adaptability and the ability to learn quickly while delivering quality work with tight deadlines. Must have excellent interpersonal skills; ,ability to build productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. . Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree required. College level course work in computer science, computer networking, mathematics, engineering or related courses. Prefer at least three years experience in installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of computer hardware/software application, user support or technology administration preferred. Combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: A valid motor vehicle operator's license. Microsoft Technology Associate certification preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) Position requires occasional operation of keyboard devices for sustained periods. May be required to move computer equipment up to 50 lbs utilizing safety lifting and moving techniques.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.) Ability to work overtime as required and to respond to emergency work needs.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under general supervision and guidance performs first level support for technology hardware and software in maintenance offices. Performs all tasks associated with the IT systems support specialist.

1.Coordinates hardware and software maintenance and repair activities, with second level support and with outside vendors for the repair of complex problems.

2. Performs routine desktop equipment maintenance.

3. Installs, maintains, and upgrades workstation or server software.

4. Analyzes and resolves basic desktop application problems.

5. Installs computer peripherals, such as printers, laptop, scanner, etc.

6. Ensures use of local area network best practices are maintained.

7.Coordinates network policies, procedures and standards with central office.

8. Functional leader of the division website. Updates the webpages with new content and updated information on a regular basis. Writes and edits content using web publishing software such as FTP, HTML, FrontPage, Dreamweaver, and Tron etc.

9. Assists with Maximo technical development, reporting and system support.

10. Provides technical support for division wide wireless device and cellular phone programs.

11. Liaison for the Division of Maintenance to secure other technology services (such as training or second level support) tracking all IT service requests in Maximo and problems until fulfilled or resolved.

12.Maintains inventory of all division computer equipment.

13. Assists with the development of IT related training manuals for division staff.

14. Provides support to the division by using Maximo and BIRT reporting tools.

15. May provide guidance/supervision to full/part time or hourly position(s).

16. Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
