SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under direction, coordinates the production of publications involving graphic design, high-speed duplication, and/or printing. Works with customers on the creation of graphic arts work for printing and publication and other purposes. Applies artistic judgment and skill in creating graphics and uses a variety of graphics tools, techniques and materials to prepare graphics products. Most assignments are received from the publications art director, but instructions may occasionally be received directly from administrators, other supervisors, or teachers requesting the work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks in a timely manner. Excellent planning, organization, management, communications, and interpersonal skills. Working knowledge of the preparation and presentation of artwork for instructional, publication, and conference use. Working knowledge of modern methods, equipment, materials and finished artwork. Ability to advise administrators, teachers, and other staff on the development and utilization of graphic arts material. Ability to analyze material to determine its potential for use in specific illustrations and reproductions. . Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree required. College course work in fine or commercial art, graphic arts, or a related field which includes considerable course work in fine, commercial, or graphic arts. Experience in the creation and development of a variety of visual materials. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experiences which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered and.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develops and coordinates schedules for both graphics and printing.

2. Works with customers on scheduling jobs.

3. Estimates cost of jobs.

4. Logs jobs into print shop management computer system.

5. Creates and coordinates production schedules for printing publications.

6. Reports the status of jobs to the supervisor.

7. Works closely with the fiscal assistant to assure supplies and equipment are procured and managed in a cost-effective manner.

8. Works with customers on graphic designs for magazines, newsletters, advertisements, brochures, flyers, letterheads, business cards, posters, charts, graphs, diagrams, and other materials.

9. Advises users on the presentation and use of visual aids for instructional purposes, and on the use of equipment for production and presentation purposes.

10. Advises users in the creation and use of graphics material for publications and presentations to staff, teachers, parents, and public groups.

11. Attends workshops and exhibitions and keeps current on new techniques and equipment in the graphic arts field.

12. Performs related work as required.
