SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: At the direction of the principal, perform a variety of tasks needed to develop, grow and manage high school early college access (ECA) programs (i.e., dual and concurrent enrollment programs). Duties involve working with students, counselors, and college personnel in planning and scheduling college courses; assembling, disseminating and publicizing information regarding ECA programs; communicating with students, parents, and college staff regarding college application, admissions requirements, and course offerings; assisting with the organization of classrooms, student meetings, proctoring/administering college placement test, recruitment, clerical, and other non-instructional work; assisting students in all aspects of registering for ECA college courses including the application process, test schedule and administration, financial aid, and scholarships; organize and maintain student files and contact information; working with Office of Curriculum and Instructional Programs (OCIP) staff to support Memorandums of Understandings (MOUs) develop between the district and higher educational institutions, provide data, share concerns and recommendations to increase access for all students and to establish appropriate contacts in the higher educational community.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Ability to access college information from the internet. Ability to communicate courteously, effectively and efficiently with college staff, parents, and students; ability to develop, grow and maintain effective ECA programs; ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in completing duties; excellent oral, written communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as organizational, management and problem solving skills. Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: High School or GED diploma required. Associates degree preferred. Completion of one year (30 semester-hours) of higher education study required. One year's experience working with students in structured situations required. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience equivalent to an Associates degree, which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position, may be considered.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.) Required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as needed and allowed by contract.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works closely with resource counselor and career and college information coordinator.

Monitors students engaged in independent work when college courses are not in session.

Works with college staff and school administrator in the selection of college courses offered at the high school campus and/or college campus.

Engages in daily and long-term planning of college courses with the school's master scheduler and/or principal's designee.

Works with college staff on course facility needs and communicate the needs to the school¿s master scheduler for appropriate room placement.

Works with school counselors in selecting and scheduling students for college courses.

Works with students in a counseling role as it relates to selecting college courses, navigating the college curriculum and addressing curriculum, scheduling or transportation concerns.

Creates and maintains student database and records of student applications, courses, schedule and progress.

Maintains and shares with students and staff, college information related to college readiness assessment, courses, financial aid, and scholarships.

Assists students in accessing and completing on-line or printed college applications and meeting required deadlines and supplies applicant data to college staff for review and acceptance.

Publishes information in newsletters, on website, flyers, etc. regarding ECA opportunities.

Attends faculty meetings, departmental meetings, student and/or parent meetings, to share information and answer ECA questions.

Attends quarterly meetings with college staff.

Acts as a resource to staff, students, counselors, and teachers regarding ECA programs.

Serves as liaison between school and Office of Curriculum and Instructional Programs staff over higher education programs as instructed by principal.

Provides information to students and parents regarding college readiness assessments such as ACCUPLACER and ACCUPLACER ESL.

Coordinates student registration, secures facilities, proctors, organizes and schedules college assessment testing (ACCUPLACER) with college staff and school administrators.

Communicates testing results to students and work with students, counselors, and administrators to determine appropriate next steps for each student testing not college ready.

Performs a multitude of clerical and/or other non instructional duties such as unlocking classroom doors, maintenance of files, records and student database, typing reports and routine correspondence, reproduction of instructional materials, provides emergency class coverage in the absence of the professor, provide college staff with school information packages including: parking passes, school map, and emergency protocol information.
