Video Services Technician I

WORKING TITLE: Video Services Technician I GRADE: 10 MONTHS: 12
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under general supervision, is responsible for inspecting, repairing, removing, and replacing videotapes, and maintaining inventory of videos and supplies. Responsible for ensuring the timely delivery and return of videotapes to the schools. Coordinates distribution with Supply Management personnel. Performs the duties of the Video Services Technician II in his absence.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Thorough knowledge of methods and techniques used in inspecting and repairing videotapes. Knowledge of booking, distribution, and tape duplication procedures. Ability to plan and organize the workflow to ensure delivery of videotapes in usable condition. Ability to maintain inventory control. Ability to work effectively with school personnel, central office staff, and others connected with distribution of videotape duplication matters. Skill in the use of videotape inspection equipment, video repair equipment, and videotape duplication equipment. Excellent human relations skills. Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: High School or GED diploma required. Training or experience in the inspection and repair of videotapes and the operation of video and television equipment required. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: None
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Ability to move boxes of tapes and supplies, and video/television equipment. (approximately 35 lb. limit)
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.) None

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Repairs videotapes and cases using splicers and VCR equipment. 
Removes damaged videotapes. Labels and processes new videos. 
Duplicates videotapes both VHS and 3/4" copies, and performs off-air recordings. 
Maintains records of inventory and performs clerical duties as needed. 
Replaces and pulls videos by certain numbers, copies and size for each day's distribution.
Inserts duplicate and new videos into proper rack by size and number.
Makes new rack tags and labels new cases as needed. 
Coordinates distribution and return of videos with Supply Management personnel.
Sorts videotapes by area and school, and places videos into pony cart. 
Operates electronic video inspection machine.
Performs related work as required.
