SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under direction performs technical graphic arts work in producing materials for multimedia and television production and web casting and for other needs within the Dept of Communications. Work of the class involves providing graphic design and graphic preparation of materials for use in TV broadcasting and on the Web. Employees apply artistic judgment and skill in creating motion 2D and 3D graphics by using a variety of graphics tools, techniques and materials to prepare graphics programs. Exercises considerable personal artistic creativity in creating electronic graphics for the television medium. Installs and maintains software and troubleshoots hardware and software problems as it relates to graphics equipment needed for position. Keeps current with technological advances in TV and web medium.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Working knowledge of preparing and presenting visual art work for television related materials for instructional, instructional and community based needs, strong working knowledge of non linear editing and uses of contemporary software to help tell the visual story. Ability to advise administrators, teachers, and other staff personnel on the development and utilization of electronic graphics utilizing TV and the Web, ability to analyze subject material and determine its potential for use in broadcast and communications setting. Good human relations skills. Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Associates degree required. Bachelors degree preferred from and accredited college or university with a major in fine or commercial art, graphic arts, or a related field required. Coursework or formal training in fine arts, graphic communications, media design, and/or electronic graphics applications is required. Three years experience in the creation and development of a variety of visual materials . Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience equivalent to an Associates degree, which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position, may be considered.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provides editing and graphic design for programs and webcasts.

2. Develops artistic and creative solutions for editing and program segments, including but not limited to openings and closes of programs, promotions, station ID's, green screen effects, bulletin board announcements and general station needs within the Dept of Communications.

3. Provides electronic graphics for TV productions consisting of title sequences, 2D and 3D motion video of images, maps, charts, and diagrams.

4. Creates and designs sets for TV productions.

5. Selects materials and coordinates set construction.

6. Performs variety of photographic tasks in preparing materials.

7. Advises users on the presentation and use of visual aids for instructional purposes; describes use of equipment for production and presentation purposes.

8. Advises TV staff on the creation and use of graphics materials for visual medium.

9. Attends workshops and exhibitions and keeps current on new techniques and equipment in the TV electronic graphic arts field.

10. Performs related duties, as required.
