| Under direction, provides construction, repair and
maintenance service for all buildings operated by the
MCPS and manages the consumption of energy and utilities
for these buildings. Coordinates a joint occupancy program
by leasing surplus school space.

| Thorough knowledge of construction, repair and maintenance,
indoor air quality, and budgetary and financial procedures
necessary to administer the school facilities program.
Excellent organizational ability and ability to interpret
educational programs in relation to facility needs.
Excellent oral and written communications and human
relations skills.
|
| Master's degree from an accredited college or university
with an emphasis in school facilities, administration
or a related area. Experience in the construction area
or experience working in a related school facilities
field; or any combination of applicable education, training,
and experience which provides the knowledge, abilities,
and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position. |
| (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) None |

Assist with the development and implementation of comprehensive
annual and five-year capital improvements plans showing
a budget and a description of the facilities contained
in the Comprehensive Facilities Plan.
Plan, construct, and maintain facilities in adequate
condition, and size to house the instructional and administrative
activities of the school system.
Obtain the necessary state and local reviews and approvals
of the plans and budgets for each project in the capital
improvements program.
Conserve energy and utility commodities through an
energy management program.
Prepare and manage the lease and purchase contracts,
deeds, architectural plans, and financial records related
to school facilities and sites.
Plan, manage, and seek tenants for the effective use
of all excess facility space and manage all MCPS real
estate.
Supervise the orderly transfer and reuse of any closed
facility.
Analyze, plan, and implement an effective, efficient
system for providing and managing the delivery of maintenance
services.
Assist in the coordination of indoor air quality activities.
Performs related work as required.
