| Under direction, provides leadership
for the implementation of the Choice process in the Northeast
Consortium, Downcounty Consortium, and the Magnet Middle
School Consortium. The director also supervises the recruitment,
marketing, and application processes for center, magnet,
and special programs. The director is a liaison between
central office staff and school principals on Consortia
choice and application program implementation issues
and provides supervision for Consortia Choice and Application
Programs staff. The director is responsible for presentations
to the Board of Education and frequent dialogue with
parents, community members, business and higher education
partners, and media representatives. |
| Thorough knowledge of the instructional
programs of the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS);
thorough knowledge of educational theory, research-based
best practices, National Standards, and Maryland State
Content Standards. Knowledge of school improvement planning
process and curriculum design, implementation, and evaluation.
Knowledge of Consortia choice and application program
processes and procedures. Ability to collect, analyze,
and use data for program planning and marketing. Writing
and technology skills necessary for producing comprehensive
reports and making presentations and the ability to conceptualize,
lead, and evaluate large-scale projects. Excellent interpersonal
skills built on communication and collaboration. |
| Master's degree from an accredited
college or university with specialization in the area
of curriculum and/or administration. Experience as a
classroom teacher, curriculum supervisor/coordinator,
assistant principal, and/or principal; experience providing
leadership in designing, planning, and implementing instructional
programs. Experience with and/or knowledge of the implementation
of Consortia choice programs and application program
and processes. Other combinations of applicable education,
training, and experience which provide the knowledge,
abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively
in the position may be considered. Ability to increase
responsibility and leadership in the position; ability
to prioritize and manage multiple tasks. |

(Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.) Attendance
at evening Board of Education meetings, PTA presentations,
choice information meetings and open houses, application
program meetings and open houses, and other school
programs are required. |

• Provides leadership for the implementation
and evaluation of Consortia choice process and center,
magnet, and special program application processes.
Provides support for the collection of program data.
Provides leadership for the development, implementation,
and evaluation of the Choice process in the Northeast
Consortium, Downcounty Consortium, and Magnet Middle
School Consortium as well as center, magnet, and special
program application processes.
Works with staff in the Office of School Performance
and the Office of Strategic Technologies and Accountability
on issues related to the development, implementation,
and evaluation of the Choice student assignment process
as well as center, magnet, and special program application
processes.
Supervises planning an implementation of parent and
student outreach information related to the Choice
and application program processes.
Communicates with stakeholders including correspondence
and meetings with parents, students, MCPS staff, community
members, business partners, parent organizations, and
media representatives regarding choice and application
opportunities and processes.
Supervises the enrollment of students into Consortia
schools.
Responds in writing to all appeals for change of school
assignments.
Collaborates with Field Office staff regarding all
transfers into, and out of, Consortia schools.
Coordinates the middle school to high school articulation
process for the Northeast Consortium and Downcounty
Consortium.
Coordinates the elementary school to middle school
articulation process for the Magnet Middle School Consortium.
Coordinates the center, magnet, and special program
articulation process.
Meets regularly with principals and program coordinators
regarding program implementation and Choice and application
program processes planning and implementation.
Actively pursues opportunities for life-long learning
and professional growth.
Provides leadership in designing and developing new
programs, processes, and initiatives to meet identified
needs.
Uses creative and critical thinking in curriculum work,
staff management, and problem-solving.
Supervises workload of Consortia and application program
staff.
Performs related work as required.
