| Under general direction of the assistant chief information
officer for end user support, coordinates the work of
the division of technology training. Directs the development
and implementation of technology training programs to
meet the needs of all MCPS school-based and office staff.
Establishes the basic technology competencies needed
by all MCPS staff, especially those responsible or directly
supporting student instruction. Coordinates the instructional
support and staff development work done in this division
with the office of instruction and program development
and the department of staff development.

| Thorough knowledge of organizational and staff development
theories and practices. Experience in designing, modifying
and expanding school system organizational and staff
development activities and initiatives. Ability to assess,
develop, and manage effective performance teams. Recent
experience designing and implementing professional development
programs. Skilled in facilitation techniques and practices.
Demonstrated ability to train adult learners. Skilled
in continuous improvement and staff development practices.
Ability to develop, disseminate and implement master
training schedules. Ability to quickly learn Montgomery
County Public School (MCPS) policies, regulations and
practices. Requires excellent process improvement, team-building,
and oral and written communication skills.

| Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college
or university, Master’s preferred; experience
in using technology to perform both instructional and
administrative tasks; prior supervisory or leadership
experience. |

or supervise training activities or meetings as required. |

In collaboration and cooperation with other departments
and offices, develops technology-related training programs
and activities.
Participates in the selection, assignment and evaluation
of staff within the division.
Directs instructional specialists in designing and
delivering technology training for office and school
staff.
Engages in personal development activities to maintain
currency with industry-wide best practices.
Meets regularly with the community superintendents,
principals, and other technology users to discuss training
needs, current technology practices, and concerns related
to the services provided by the division.
Collaborates with leadership within the office of global
access to ensure consistency in the training, support,
and advice that is given to schools and offices.
Establishes the basic technology competencies needed
by teachers, instructional assistants, instructional
specialist, media specialists and user support specialists.
Sets clear, measurable objectives for the division,
and regularly reports on division-wide results and,
in confidence, on individual staff performance.
Promotes increased access and use of computer technology
for students and staff in Pre-K-through-12 grade instruction
or for administrative efficiencies.
Directs the effort to create and implement a program
to address the technology training and career development
needs of staff within the office, with particular emphasis
on learning new skills as technologies continue to rapidly
change and evolve.
Prepares budget materials and communications for the
division.
Performs related work as required. |
