SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION:
Works closely with the community superintendents, directors of school performance, and executive assistant to assist in the administration and coordination of the work of the Office of School Performance, including a variety of school issues related to staffing, budget, evening high school and summer school, general correspondence, and day-to-day operation of the office.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of MCPS policies, practices, curriculum, and initiatives; local, state, and federal laws related to school administration, data analysis, and best practices in school improvement and secondary school scheduling. Exceptional conceptual, analytical, organizational, and management skills. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in educational administration, supervision, or related field with MSDE certification as an administrator or supervisor. Minimum two years as an assistant principal in MCPS with experience as a master scheduler.

CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Meets Maryland state certification requirements for administration
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) None
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.) Ability to work nights and weekends as required. Annual leave limited during specified timeframes.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follows up with schools to increase responsiveness of the Office of School Performance on incidents, needed information, or parent/community requests.

Analyzes master schedules to determine staffing needs.

Works with instructional specialists to ensure the effective operations of summer school and evening high school. Revises OSP documents, such as the Principals’ Handbook, the OSP Handbook, or other materials for

distribution. Coordinates OSP projects and acts as a liaison with central offices when OSP involvement is needed.

Attends meetings and committees representing the Office of School Performance, community superintendent, or directors of school performance as needed.

Works with parents and communities, completing correspondence, meeting with parents or community members, handling office visitors.

Responds to policy and legal matters related to schools. Performs related work as required.
