| Under general direction of the Chief Information Officer,
assists in the technology research, evaluation and planning
efforts of the Office of Global Access Technology. Aligns
technology research and development initiatives with
the office and Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
vision.

| Knowledge of a variety of technology architectures
including web-based architectures, client/server and
centralized computing models. Ability to produce system
documentation. Thorough understanding of current information
technologies, including object-oriented design, data
warehousing and decision support applications, enterprise-wide
business applications, etc. Familiarity with application
evaluation, development and testing methodologies and
best practices. Excellent technical and oral/written
communications skills. Ability to quickly learn Montgomery
County Public School (MCPS) policies, regulations and
practices.

| Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college
or university required, Master’s preferred. Considerable
experience in an administrative or leadership position
with responsibility for the development of information
technology projects. Other combinations of applicable
education, training and experience which may provide
the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform
effectively in the position may be considered. |

Meets regularly with chief information officer and
key staff in the office of global access technology
to plan and coordinate activities of the office.
Prepares information for and makes presentations to
the Board of Education, county council, and other public
groups as required.
Works closely with staff within the office to support
the MCPS vision, objectives and strategies.
Participates in planning and implementing information
technology strategies.
Responsible for identifying, evaluating and participating
in the selection of enterprise-wide information technology
solutions, as well as vertical solutions that meet specific
business needs.
Engages in proof of concept and pilot projects to understand
the value and feasibility of various solutions.
Engages in personal development activities to maintain
currency with industry-wide best practices.
Performs related work as required. |
