| : Under direction of the principal, works in a team effort with administration and staff. Assists in monitoring student discipline, parent/community outreach, administering and supervising of all student related school activities. Conducts staff observations, but does not evaluate teachers. This is an eleven month position. |
| Thorough knowledge of MCPS policies and procedures, school operations and pupil services. Knowledge of behavioral management techniques and conflict resolution. Knowledge of system resources and services available to parents and students. Knowledge of computer applications desirable. Ability to communicate effectively, motivate, encourage, and work with students, staff and community. Excellent problem solving skills. Excellent organizational, oral, written and human relations skills required. Demonstrated leadership skills outside the classroom. |
| Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Master's degree desirable. Satisfactory completion of Observing and Analyzing Teaching I during the first year of employment. Administrative coursework desirable. Minimum of three years of outstanding classroom teaching or counseling experience, experience in conflict resolution, evidence of recent professional development, and resource teacher or other leadership background desirable. Other combinations of applicable education, training and experience which provide the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered. |

| Attendance at evening and weekend student and community activities required. Requires the completion of Observation and Analysis of Teaching 1 either prior to or during the first year in position. This is a rotating position during which time the employee is expected to work towards eligibility requirements for an Administrator I certificate and complete Observation and Analysis of Teaching 2. No one will remain in this position longer than four years. Employees who are not appointed to an administrative position by the end of the rotational cycle will be returned to a teacher level position. |

Participates as a member of the administrative team
Provides support on student behavior in and outside the classroom including intervention process and activities to increase student engagement. Deals promptly and positively with behavior problems.
Supports and facilitates safety and security activities at the school including the development and communication of the school’s discipline policy and the school crisis plans
Provides support and assistance in developing conflict management and mediation process as the school
Analyzes data related to student behavior, tardiness, attendance, suspension and eligibility
Coordinates one project a year that supports the school improvement plan related to student services and student engagement. Examples of projects include: coordination of after school programs, facilitating the school’s safety and security team, coordination of recognition and incentive program that support a positive school climate.
Participates as a member of the administrative team in parent/community outreach by, resolving issues(s) or referring parents to appropriate staff, assisting principal in organizing community partnerships; and serving on committees as assigned.
Participates in the Educational Management Team and other teams to ensure appropriate programs for all students (e. g. Related to special education/504)
Participates in suspension/appeal hearings as appropriate.
Assists principal in the coordination, supervision, and monitoring of student related school activities/ events as well as extra-curricular activities.
Coordinates and implements student related special projects as assigned by the principal.
Conducts staff observations, but does not evaluate teachers
Prepares written reports and correspondence.
Demonstrates evidence of continuing professional study in preparation for further administrative opportunities.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
