Implement
Title I mandates of the Elementary and Secondary Education
Act, No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB Act), especially
as it relates to the Federal School Choice Option, Supplemental
Educational Services, highly qualified staff, professional
development, schoolwide programs, school improvement plans,
family involvement, and technical assistance; work with
schoolwide programs to plan and implement a comprehensive
school improvement process including extended day and year
programs; support schools in the design and delivery of
research-based instructional practices; assist school personnel
in assessment, data collection, and analysis of formal
and informal data for use in targeting and monitoring the
effectiveness of academic interventions; collaborate in
the development and delivery of personalized family involvement
policies and training designed to support individual student
achievement |
Ability
to analyze student achievement data for instructional decision
making. Knowledge of current research and trends in education,
with special emphasis on ESOL, math, curriculum, instruction,
and training. Knowledge of NCLB, particularly Title I,
Part A. Ability to work effectively with classroom teachers,
principals, and parent organizations in providing rigorous
academic experiences for students. Excellent oral and written
communication and human relations skills. |
Master’s
from accredited college or university with course work
in curriculum development and instruction. Five years
experience teaching a diverse elementary student population.
Experience
in planning and implementing professional development
experiences for school-based staff and making presentations
to supervisors
and community members. Experience as a member of a School
Improvement planning team. Applicable education, training,
and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities,
and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position,
may be considered. |
Must
meet Highly Qualified requirements for teacher; qualifications
for administration certification preferred. |

work to meet deadlines or to attend Board of Education,
committee, PTSA, or other meetings, and monitor Supplemental

Inform schools and communities about No Child Left
Behind Act of 2001 Title I mandates and the implications
for MCPS.
Continue comprehensive school improvement efforts
in the Title I schools by providing training and individualized
follow-up support for school leadership teams.
Plan and conduct staff development that is linked
to school improvement efforts in collaboration with
administrators, school leadership teams, and other
MCPS offices including training sessions for paraeducators.
Facilitate the implementation of grade level and/or
vertical team meetings.
Support the implementation of the MCPS curriculum.
Implement comprehensive extended day and year programs
in Title I schools.
Meet with teachers to analyze formal and informal
data to facilitate appropriate instructional planning
matched to the needs of students.
Plan for and conduct family training sessions linked
to the instructional program aligned to the home-school
compact.
Assist with the development of plans for the expenditure
of family involvement funds, complete required financial
documents, and monitor activities in compliance with
Title I guidelines.
Performs related work as required.
