| Under direction of the director of alternative programs,
, assists in the planning, implementation, supervision,
and administration of a comprehensive adult education
program.

| Thorough knowledge of the mission of the Board of Education
in providing services to adults and children in general
adult education. Knowledge of adult teaching techniques
and classroom management. Ability to organize a variety
of program offerings in a variety of locations. Excellent
supervisory, management, financial record keeping, communication
and interpersonal skills.
|
Master's degree or equivalent from an accredited college
or university. Experience in program planning, class
organization, teacher supervision and working with the
public. Other combinations of applicable education,
training, and experience which provides the knowledge,
abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively
in the position may be considered.

of Maryland teacher certification. |
| (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) Must be able to move materials and equipment to and
from different training sites on a regular basis. |

or night work required, etc.) Ability to work extra hours and attend evening and
weekend classes/programs as required. |

Plans, implements, supervises, and administers a wide
variety of adult education programs
Selects, trains, assigns, supervises, and assists in
the evaluation of the teaching staff, determines location
and time of classes to best meet the needs of the population
to be served, and arranges for the necessary administrative
details of providing a quality adult education program
Administers the budget, assists in the selection and
distribution of instructional materials and supplies,
maintains necessary financial records, and prepares
required reports.
Assists in the preparation of announcements and brochures
for distribution to county residents, students, etc.
Answers correspondence and questions regarding the
programs.
Assists in the preparation of the annual operating
budget request, keeps abreast of new program developments
in the field of adult education, reviews recent literature
and research studies and reports, evaluates findings
and suggests changes or modifications to improve existing
programs.
Works with community representatives in the development
of new or revised programs.
Meets with other adult education specialists to explore
and develop a comprehensive adult education program.
Performs related work as required. |
