| Under direction, facilitates communication and program
development for student services, assists in coordination
of pupil services activities with Montgomery County
Public Schools (MCPS) agencies and the community organizations,
creates and revises regulations and school procedures.
Facilitates staff development at the system and or school
levels.

| Thorough knowledge of Montgomery County Public Schools
(MCPS) policies and regulations and state laws dealing
with pupil services (e.g. attendance, residency, special
education); excellent oral and written communication
skills; knowledge of county agencies and community organizations;
positive human relations skills, organizational problem
solving skills; ability to monitor and analyze computer
programs (e.g. word processing, databases).

| Master’s degree (or equivalent) from an accredited
college or university with course work in at least one
area of counseling, pupil personnel services, school
psychology, school health, human development, or school
administration; at least 3 years of school based experiences;
and training background which provides the knowledge,
ability, and skills necessary to perform effectively.

| Certified as a school counselor, pupil personnel worker,
school psychologist, school nurse, administrator or
supervisor. Valid driver’s license. |
| (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) Ability to use computer word processor, able to lift
materials under 25 lbs. |
| (Frequent overtime
or night work required, etc.) Attend limited evening or Saturday meetings. |

Facilitates communication between DSS, field offices,
associations, school staffs and community agencies and
organizations.
Participates in preparing documents/regulations.
Works closely with director to develop and implement
pupil services programs and procedures.
Represents MCPS at meeting with county agencies, MSDE
and community organizations.
Plans and coordinates pupil services conferences, workshops
and/or in-services.
Acts as a resource to schools and field office staffs
for referral and interagency information.
Promotes a collaborative approach to linking the services
of the Department of Student Services.
Assists in development and implementation of such school/community
initiatives as Linkages to Learning and System Integration.
Coordinates training/opportunities for PPW’s,
guidance counselors, psychologists, school nurses and
school based personnel as needed.
Acts as liaison person for school health.
Coordinates with court liaison specialist on cases
and programs.
Manages truancy and residency compliance initiatives.
Monitors and analyzes pertinent databases for trends
effecting Success for Every Student. |
