Under direction, performs technical work in the planning and production of instructional and informational television programs. Work of the class involves basic to intermediate knowledge of various phases of television program production including, lighting and videography, audio, basic script writing, and post-production editing. Workers exercise considerable independence in carrying out day-to-day operations. |

This position requires knowledge of all of the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS) to include commitment to students, knowledge of job, professionalism, interpersonal, communication, organization, and problem solving.
Working knowledge of the practices and methods used in instructional and informational TV programming; considerable working knowledge of ENG/EFP and studio equipment. Ability to apply technical knowledge to a wide range of production problems; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must have thorough knowledge of the operation of broadcast production including videography, audio, non-linear editing equipment, and use of multi-media technology. Excellent interpersonal and human relations skills required. |
| Successful completion of major course work in TV production/direction, with three years experience in videography, editing, scripting. Working knowledge in public information/instructional programs highly desirable. Experience may be substituted for the degree requirement if that experience is consistent with course work described above. Employee must have experience shooting and directing live on tape productions and remote ENG/EFP, field and studio lighting, audio techniques, and nonlinear editing. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered. |

- Scouts shooting locations, shoots and edits from field and studio productions;
- Writes and revises scripts and arranges for sets, props, non-camera visual materials.
- Is familiar with the use of teleprompter equipment.
- Arranges for and transports equipment, and oversees its setup.
- Provides lighting, videography and audio for field production and studio operations.
- Directs single and multi-camera programs and meetings.
- Views and logs videotape and creates editing log.
- Edits graphic elements, narration, music and special effects, creates edited version of tape with closing credits using a non-linear editor.
- Creates on-line edit master and backup master, produces labels and prepares tape for use.
- Attends unit meetings and writes reports when necessary.
- Performs related work as requested.
