Parent Feedback About Individualized Education Program Team Meetings: A Pilot Study with Parents of Prekindergarten Students

Description:

This brief describes a pilot study for gathering feedback from parents of students who receive special education services. A paper and pencil survey was used; it focused on parents' experiences at Individualized Education Program (IEP) team meetings and explored parent satisfaction with delivery of special education services. Overall, the results were very positive.

Recommendations:

  • Given the largely positive survey results, continue current procedures and strategies with respect to IEP meetings for parents of prekindergarten students.
  • Identify a group of parents with students in a different grade level to receive the survey.
