Below is a copy of important information for the 2008-2009 calendar. Schools will receive flyers with their monthly newsletter from the Student Affairs Office.

Two important Meetings:
Dec. 2, 2008 - Board of Education meeting with Student Leaders Flyer (pdf)
On December 2, 2008, the Board of Education will meet from 7:00–8:30 p.m. in the auditorium at the Carver Educational Services Center with student leaders from secondary schools and the executive boards of the Montgomery County Regional Student Government Association and Montgomery County Junior Councils. The Montgomery County Public Schools executive staff also will be in attendance. This meeting is an opportunity for students to have an open dialogue with members of the Board of Education.

Three to six student leaders from each secondary school may attend this meeting. Although these students need not be recognized student leaders, they should be able to represent and share the views of your school’s diverse group of students.

Interested students should talk to the student government advisor at their school as soon as possible but before December 1, 2008. All questions should be referred to
Mrs. Karen Crawford, coordinator, Student Affairs Office, at Karen_L_Crawford@mcpsmd.org or 301-670-1419.

Jan. 6, 2009 - Student Member of the Board of Education Informational Meeting
Current and former student members of the Board of Education will meet from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Board room at the Carver Educational Services Center with any sophomore or junior interested in running for the 2009-20010 student member of the Board of Education. Qualifications for the position require a student to be a resident of Montgomery County, regularly enrolled in a Montgomery County Public School, and a junior or senior the year he/she serves. All questions should be referred to Mrs. Karen Crawford, coordinator, Student Affairs Office, at Karen_L_Crawford@mcpsmd.org or 301-670-1419.
