Summer Adventures in Learning 2008
Scheduled for July 7 through August 1, 2008
Extended Learning Opportunities - Summer Adventures in Learning (ELO-SAIL) is a free four-week summer program available in 28 Title I elementary schools. It features a four-hour instructional day of reading, language arts, and mathematics to entering kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth, and fifth grade students.
The ELO-SAIL program seeks to:
-
Meet the academic needs of each student by providing opportunities to catch up on grade-level concepts or accelerating learning by previewing concepts
-
Stregthen basic skills that are preconditions of later learning
-
Alleviate the achievement loss that some students may experience over the summer months
-
Provide continuing English language instruction for speakers of other languages
