Summer Adventures in Learning 2008

Scheduled for July 7 through August 1, 2008

Extended Learning Opportunities - Summer Adventures in Learning (ELO-SAIL) is a free four-week summer program available in 28 Title I elementary schools. It features a four-hour instructional day of reading, language arts, and mathematics to entering kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth, and fifth grade students.

The ELO-SAIL program seeks to:

  • Meet the academic needs of each student by providing opportunities to catch up on grade-level concepts or accelerating learning by previewing concepts
  • Stregthen basic skills that are preconditions of later learning
  • Alleviate the achievement loss that some students may experience over the summer months
  • Provide continuing English language instruction for speakers of other languages
