Board of Education
The Board of Education is the county's official educational policy-making
body and is responsible for the direction and operation of the public school system.
Superintendent of Schools
The Superintendent of Schools provides leadership, policy, guidance, and administrative direction to the school system, according to the policies of the Board of Education.
Director of Communications
The Director of Communications oversees the implementation of electronic and print information systems that disseminate information to parents, students, news media, and the general public through publications, cable television, the Internet, and responses to inquiries.
Deputy Superintendent of Schools
The Deputy Superintendent of Schools oversees all educational services offices: school performance; curriculum and instructional programs; special education and student services; alternative programs; adult education; and community and family partnerships.
Deputy Superintendent for Information and Organizational Systems
The Deputy Superintendent for Information and Organizational Systems oversees data and information management, research and quality controls: measuring and monitoring the effectiveness of systemwide initiatives; administering and reporting on assessments; regulatory accountability and audits; student and business information technology systems; and technology integration, training, implementation and support.
Chief Operating Officer
The Chief Operating Officer oversees human resources and the systemwide support functions that form the infrastructure of the school system's daily operations: facilities management; school boundaries and the capital budget; financial services; the operating budget; transportation; materials management; association relations; and school safety and security.
Chief School Performance Officer
The Chief School Performance Officer oversees the Office of School Performance, which includes Community Superintendents and Directors of School Performance. Each Community Superintendent oversees about 30 schools that are organized in clusters (see School Clusters). The Directors of School Performance review and analyze school data, oversee the school performance support teams, and provide assistance to principals on all school-based issues.
Office of Organizational Development
The Office of Organizational Development oversees staff training and professional development; and coordinates the cross-functional implementation of comprehensive reform initiatives necessary for a successful organization.
