Media Advisory: MCPS to Announce Launch of Partnership with Common Sense Education on Oct. 19

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) will announce the launch of a new partnership with Common Sense Education TOMORROW, October 19, 2016. MCPS will be working with Common Sense Education to provide schools and educators with the necessary tools, training, and support to empower students to think critically, adopt safe behaviors, and participate responsibly with technology as part of the district’s Digital Citizenship initiative.

WHAT: News conference to announce the launch of a new partnership with Common Sense Education. The program will be implemented in all MCPS middle schools this school year and will expand to students in all grade levels over the next three years.

WHO: Among those scheduled to speak at the event are:

-Michael Durso, president, Montgomery County Board of Education
-Jack R. Smith, Superintendent, Montgomery County Public Schools
-April McClain-Delaney, Washington Director and National Board Member, Common Sense Media
-Rebecca Randall, Vice president of Education Programs and Partnerships, Common Sense Education
-Alicia Deeny, Principal, Takoma Park Middle School
