Math Day
Math day is a PTA sponsored event which includes every child in the school. The children have a choice of 25 different math related games and activities set up in the gym, and fill a sticker chart with colorful stickers for each game they play.
About | Math Day
Math Day games include a "grocery store" where kids add up their bill and pay for their groceries, a "restaurant" where they figure their total, and add a place to measure their longest leap. Each activity is geared to the ability of the various grades. Math day is a huge amount of fun, and students looks forward to it every year.
There are 40 to 50 parents per shift to help the kids with the games and activities. Parents are assigned a specific game and no specific math knowledge is required.
AM Kindergarten shift is 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. PM Kindergarten and the entire First Grade is 1:35 Pm to 3:00 PM. Because the yournger kids do require more supervision thatn the older kids, as many parent volunteers as possible are needed during those shifts.
