The Ill-Made Knight
Book III of The Once and Future King, by T.H.
White
Objectives:
To provide you with a magical reading experience
- To allow you the opportunity to demonstrate your critical
thinking, reading, and writing skills
- To reinforce your knowledge of the MYP Areas of Interaction
- To create a foundation of ideas that connect to other
texts we will study during the school year.
Instructions:
1) Review the Areas of Interactions
and the related questions before reading The
Ill-Made Knight.
2) As you read, bullet notes about
the characters and key ideas, and events (notes you'll want to
review before taking the reading quiz the first week of school),
and keep an eye open for a particular passage (approximately 1-4
paragraphs) that you find interesting and/or significant.
3) Copy that passage (you may carefully
type it up or photocopy it).
4) Then, write a short analysis
(6-12 sentences) discussing how your selected passage
illustrates one or more of the MYP Areas of Interaction.
In other words, look at each of the related questions and consider
how your passage may provide an answer to the question.
• You may write your analysis
in the form of a BCR, or it can be a more
informal, first-person
reflection. You do, however, need to demonstrate that
you have made
a clear connection between the passage and the Area(s) of
Interaction.
IMPORTANT: You will receive a grade
on this assignment and there will also be a reading quiz on the
book during the first week of school.
