Topic 1: Shopping January
22 - February 23
Objectives

Topic 2: Community and Transportation February
26 - April 20
Objectives
Students will be able to:
1) Exchange information about places
and their location in the community
2) Exchange information about means
of transportation in the community
3) Exchange information about basic
activities and where they occur in the community
4) Provide and follow direction
within the community
5) Interpret information about places,
means of transportation and basic activities in the community
including their location
6) Present information about places,
locations, activities and means of transportation in the community
7) Describe typical shops, services
and places in a Chinese-speaking country and how they serve their
community
8) Describe the organizational structure
of a Chinese-speaking community
Topic 3: Travel April 23
- June 1
Objectives
Students will be able to:
1) Ask and answer questions about
travel plans and destination
2) Describe where the final destination
is located
3) Ask questions related to plans
for a trip
4) Interpret schedules and prices
of different means of transportation
5) Present information about future
field trip plans
6) Present how to make travel arrangements
within Chinese-speaking countries
7) Describe schedules using the
24-hour clock
In this combination class of IB Chinese 3, Honor Chinese 3 and
IB Chinese 4, Chinese 3 curriculum is used as the base of materials.
IB Chinese 4 will
have different authentic materials for reading supplement and
longer oral presentatation requirements.
Homework
and tests will be posted on Edline. Students will receive a monthly
schedule for the course and tests.
Grading Policy
A variety of Assessments
(90%) including oral use of Chinese language in class, and homework
checked for completion (10%) will determine the student’s
grade.
Late and Missing work:
Graded assignments/projects:
Each assignment will have a due date. This is the date by which
the student is expected to submit the assignment. The grade on
the assignment will drop by 10 % of the total points if the assignment
is not turn in by the due date. The deadline is the last day an
assignment will be accepted for a grade. In some cases, the due
date and the deadline may be the same. Work not turned in by the
deadline will receive a zero.
Homework completion
Homework is checked and reviewed on the next day in the classroom.
Students will receive only 50% credit if the assignment is later
than the due date or incomplete. Students who miss class will
be responsible to turn in homework for check.
Retaking quizzes:
Some quizzes may be
taken a second time. In order to retake an assessment, the student
must have completed all assignments and attend a re-teach/tutoring
session. The day and time for both the tutoring session and the
make-up assessment will be previously announced by the teacher
and only given on that date. Unit tests
may not be retaken.
