Theme : Let's Go

Topic : Our Community, colors, possessions.   August 27– September 21

Objectives : Students will be able to

• Talk about possessions, ask permission
• Talk about colors
• Express an opinion

Essential Structures :

• Interrogative pronouns, possessive adjectives
• Adjectives that name colors
• Subordinate clauses

Topic : Travel, Going places.   September 24– October 31

Objectives : Students will be able to

• Present information about future travel plans
• Ask and answer questions about travel plans and destinations
• Talk about means of transportation
• Recognize spoken numbers and numbers written as words

Essential Structures :

• Verbs of motion
• Prepositions and adverbs of place
• Use of the prepositional case
• Use of the accusative case with the destinations
 

Theme : My Life, Sports, Hobbies

Topic : All about myself. Sports.  November 2– December 3

Objectives : Students will be able to

• Talk about their family life in the present and in the past
• Deal with numbers
• Talk about past actions
• Discuss sports

Essential Structures :

• Expression of surprise
• present, past, tense of verbs
• cardinal numbers 1 - 100
• personal pronouns in the accusative case
 

Theme : Hobbies and Occupations

Topic : My favorite pastime.   December 4 – January 11

Objectives : Students will be able to

• Talk about time
• Use expressions of time
• Discuss a sequence of events
• Exchange information about occupational choices

Essential Structures :

• The use of numbers with nouns of time
• The question – WHY? -
• Instrumental case of nouns
 

Review day: January 11, 2008

Final exams: January 14– 18, 2008
 

Assessments : Students will be evaluated on their performance on quizzes, tests and daily participation in classroom activities.

There will be opportunities for reassessment consistent with B-CC policies.

Such opportunities will be offered within an instructional unit. The teacher will provide at least one reassessment opportunity per task. All students may be reassessed, regardless of grade on original task, if they meet the following requirements: complete the original task, complete required assignments, and complete reteaching activities, as determined by the teacher.

Students must show evidence that they have made an attempt to relearn the material before taking the reassessment. For example, students could:
     • Come to the teacher for extra help
     • Complete practice assignments
     • Make corrections on the original assignment
 

90% of the marking period grade will be based on formative and summative assessments, which may include homework, class work, quizzes, unit tests, projects, oral presentations, writing assignments.

Assignments checked only for completion, such as homework, classwork, oral practice, will account for 10% of the marking period grade.

Grades will be based according to the following:

A= 90-100%
B= 80-89%
C= 70-79%
D= 60-69%
E= 50-59%
