Theme : School Life.

Topic : Our favorite activities at school. Weather.

Objectives : Students will be able to

• Conjugate the Russian verbs “to want”, “to like”
• Describe weather conditions
• Express attitude towards weather
• Express alternatives
• Engage in conversation about school time activities
• Present basic information about preferred activities and weather

Essential Structures :

• Impersonal sentences in the past, present, future
• Negative sentences in the past tense
• Verb conjugation
• Using the nouns and adverbs for seasons
• Ordinal numbers

Topic : Hobbies.Extracurriculars.

Objectives : Students will be able to

• Ask and answer questions about past leisure activities.
• Talk about age
• Extend an invitation to an activity and respond
• Give reasons

Essential Structures :

• Verbs with nouns in the Instrumental case
• Use of the Dative case of personal pronouns when indicating age
• Reflexive verbs and their endings

Theme : Daily Life. Choosing a Profession.

Topic : Routines/Household Chores. Food. Profession.

Objectives : Students will be able to

• Discuss outcomes and talk about what or whom
• Talk about decisions and intentions
• Give and respond to oral instructions regarding household chores and responsibilities
• Identify furnishings of a residence and describe their placement.
• Tell what needs to be done

Essential Structures :

• Verbal aspects
• Adverbs of time
• Using the structure “need to take”
• Using Russian words for measurements
• Expressing quantities
• Formal and informal commands

Assessments :
Students will be evaluated on their performance on quizzes, tests, homework and daily participation in classroom activities.

There will be opportunities for reassessment consistent with B-CC policies.

Such opportunities will be offered within an instructional unit. The teacher will provide at least one reassessment opportunity per task. All students may be reassessed, regardless of grade on original task, if they meet the following requirements: complete the original task, complete required assignments, and complete reteaching activities, as determined by the teacher.

Students must show evidence that they have made an attempt to relearn the material before taking the reassessment. For example, students could:
     • Come to the teacher for extra help
     • Complete practice assignments
     • Make corrections on the original assignment

90% of the marking period grade will be based on formative and summative assessments, which may include homework, class work, quizzes, unit tests, projects, oral presentations, writing assignments.

Assignments checked only for completion, such as homework, classwork, oral practice, will account for 10% of the marking period grade.

Grades will be based according to the following:

A= 90-100%
B= 80-89%
C= 70-79%
D= 60-69%
E= 50-59%
