• Review of the future tense of Russian verbs
• Conjugation of verbs of motion

Topic : Travel and holidays in Russia and the US.  October 15 – November 19

• Use the superlative degree
• Discuss forthcoming events
• Correct a mistaken assumption
• Talk about dates

Essential Structures :

• The neuter singular of ordinal numbers in dates
• Instrumental forms of personal pronouns

Theme : Let`s celebrate!

Topic : At the hotel. New Year`s.  November 20 – January 11

Objectives : Students will be able to

• Express ability or permission
• Ask about time
• Ask and tell when something begins or ends
• Check and confirm repetition

Essential Structures :

• The use of prepositions in time expressions
• The prepositional and genitive plural of adjectives and pronouns
• Negative constructions

IB Language B Objectives (standard level)

  • Communicate clearly and effectively in range of situation
  • Understand and use accurately oral and written forms of language that are commonly encountered in a range of situations
  • Understand and use a range of vocabulary in common usage
  • Select a register that is generally appropriate to the situation
  • Express ideas with general clarity and some fluency
  • Structure arguments in a generally clear, coherent and convincing way
  • Understand and respond appropriately to written and spoken material of average difficulty
  • Assess some subtleties of the language in a range of forms, styles and registers
  • Show an awareness of, and sensitivity to, some elements of the culture(s) related to the language studies

IB Language Objectives (higher level)

Assessments : Students will be evaluated on their performance on quizzes, tests and daily participation in classroom activities.

There will be opportunities for reassessment consistent with B-CC policies.

Such opportunities will be offered within an instructional unit. The teacher will provide at least one reassessment opportunity per task. All students may be reassessed, regardless of grade on original task, if they meet the following requirements: complete the original task, complete required assignments, and complete reteaching activities, as determined by the teacher.

Students must show evidence that they have made an attempt to relearn the material before taking the reassessment. For example, students could:
     • Come to the teacher for extra help
     • Complete practice assignments
     • Make corrections on the original assignment


90% of the marking period grade will be based on formative and summative assessments, which may include homework, class work, quizzes, unit tests, projects, oral presentations, writing assignments.

Assignments checked only for completion, such as homework, classwork, oral practice, will account for 10% of the marking period grade.

Grades will be based according to the following:

A= 90-100%
B= 80-89%
C= 70-79%
D= 60-69%
E= 50-59%
