Materials needed for success in honors geometry B:
a Calculator with trigonometric functions (sin, cos, tan keys)

Course Timeline: Semester B:
Unit 5: Indirect Measurement ~ 4 weeks
Unit 6: Three Dimensional Geometry and Measurement ~ 3 weeks
Unit 7: Similarity ~ 3 weeks
Unit 8: Circles ~ 3 weeks
Unit 9: Trigonometry ~ 2 weeks

Class Expectations:

  • You are expected to be in your seat and working when the tardy bell rings. If you aren't, and you do not have a note, then you will be charged with and unexcused tardy. Three unexcused tardies equal one unexcused absence; five unexcused absences equal loss of credit for the course.
  • You should have a pencil, paper, your assignment book, straight edge, compass, and calculator with you every day in class. Come to class prepared.
  • Unless it is a real emergency, you will not be allowed to leave the room during class. Make sure you use the bathroom and get your materials before the tardy bell rings.
  • If you are absent, you need to call a buddy from your math class and ask them for the assignment, or check online at http://blackboard.mcps.k12.md.us.
  • There will be no food or drinks in class. (except water)
  • Calculators are to be used for math purposes only. Any teacher has the right to reset them or confiscate them if they are being used inappropriately.

Grade distribution:
Grades will be calculated based on a category system. The percentage of the overall grade for each category is listed below.
• Tests = 60%
• Quizzes = 30%
• Class work & Homework = 10%
o Homework will be assigned most nights. It is expected that you come to class prepared to go over the answers.
o If you forget to write your homework assignment down you can find it online at http://blackboard.mcps.k12.md.us.

Semester Grades:
The third and fourth quarter grades are 75% of your semester grade. The semester exam is 25% of your semester grade.
It is math department policy that if you earn a C third quarter, an E fourth quarter, and an E on the exam your semester grade could be forced to an E. The policy also applies if the grade combination is ECE.
