Grades will
be based on the following:
Grades will be calculated based on a cumulative point system.
• Quizzes can range from 20-40 points. Tests can range from
50-100 points
• Being absent the day before a test or quiz does not excuse
you from taking the test on the originally scheduled day.
• Tests and quizzes missed due to excused absences must
be made up the first day you are back in school after school or
with an appointment arranged with the teacher
Semester
Grades:
Freshman through
Juniors:
The third and fourth quarter grades are 75% of your semester grade.
The semester exam is 25% of your semester grade.
It is math department policy that if you earn a C third quarter,
an E fourth quarter, and an E on the exam your semester grade
could be forced to an E.
Seniors:
Your final exam will be given in class at the end of May. Your
semester grade is calculated as follows:
Third quarter grade = student’s class average from classroom
assessments
Fourth quarter grade = student’s class average from classroom
assessments is 75% of the fourth quarter grade.
The student’s percent score from the senior final exam is
25% of the fourth quarter grade.
The semester grade follows a trend from the third and fourth quarter.
Class Expectations:
- You are expected
to be in your seat and working when the tardy bell rings. If
you aren't, and you do not have a note, then you will be charged
with and unexcused tardy. Three unexcused tardies equal one
unexcused absence; five unexcused absences equal loss of credit
for the course.
- You should have
a pencil, paper, your assignment book, and graphing calculator
with you every day in class. Come to class prepared.
- Unless it is a
real emergency, you will not be allowed to leave the room during
class. Make sure you use the bathroom and get your materials
before the tardy bell rings.
- If you are absent,
you need to call a buddy from your math class and ask them for
the assignment, or check online at http://blackboard.mcps.k12.md.us.
- Calculators are
to be used for math purposes only. Any teacher has the right
to reset them or confiscate them if they are being used inappropriately.
