Course Description
A prerequisite for anatomy and physiology courses is attainment of the objectives
of Biology A and B and, where the student has not attained the objectives of
Chemistry A and B and will not be taking them concurrently, counseling based
on (1) recommendations of teachers who have taught the student and (2) the student's
performance in previous science courses. The course includes a study of structures
and functions of the major systems of the body, as well as the causes and cures
of diseases. Throughout both semesters of the course are descriptions of career
opportunities in medically related fields. Anatomy and Physiolog y A topics
include cell specialization; histology; Biochemistry; and the integumentary,
skeletal and muscular systems. Anatomy and Physiology B topics include nervous,
digestive, respiratory, cardiovascular, excretory, endocrine, and reproductive
systems. Dissection is required.
