Bio:
Laura Finarelli, who originally hails from just outside
Philadelphia, in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, finds B-CC
to be "a perfect fit." The teachers and administrators have
been "so supportive" and the kids "really nice." Ms. Finarelli
is also exhilarated by the high level of school spirit that
you can "feel as you walk through the halls."
Ms. Finarelli began her college career at Penn State as
a biology major, and planned to enter the field of genetics.
Along the way she realized how much more she enjoyed English
classes and switched to major in English and minor in business.
After working at a PR firm in North Carolina, Ms. Finarelli
went back to university life, earning a master's degree
in education at Villanova University, and then moving to
London to pursue another master's in modernist literature
at Queen Mary's College. Now she is teaching 11th-grade
English and 12th-grade honors English. She is also the sponsor
for the Ethics club.
In her spare time she enjoys seeing family, particularly
her year and a half old nephew. Her passion is sports. She's
a staunch Phillies fan. Asked about her favorite book, Ms.
Finarelli immediately names The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand
for the strength of the main character, Howard Roark, who
"does things for the sake of art," not simply for what pleases
others. |
