| The extracurricular activities
program at B–CC High School offers many opportunities
for students to develop and expand their interests, talents,
and service to the school and community, and to participate
actively in school life. These range from interscholastic
sports to honor societies and the many service and special
interest clubs and organizations. A description of each
of these activities can be found at the links below:
Students can get a preview of these extracurricular activities
offerings at the school’s Activity Fair in the fall.
(Check the Newsbox on the B-CC main
page and listen to the morning
announcements at school for the date of the Activity
Fair.) They may also form their own club or activity, subject
to the principal's approval. A "New
Club/Activity" application can be downloaded here
or obtained from the Student Government Association (SGA)
advisor. All clubs/activities need a school staff person
who is willing to sponsor and supervise the club/activity.
Transportation
To participate in after-school activities, students can
use their student ID cards for free
transportation on Ride-on and Metro buses, 2-7pm, Monday-Friday,
under Montgomery County's Kids
Ride Free
program
There are no activity buses for school year 2005-2006.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible for any athletic or extracurricular
activity, a student must have obtained a 2.0 grade point
average (GPA), with not more than one grade of E, for the
previous nine-week grading period. (The first nine-week
eligibility period for the school year is determined by
the fourth-quarter grades from the previous school year.)
Serious behavior infractions or excessive unexcused absences
may be sufficient reason for declaring a student ineligible
at any time. For more detailed information regarding eligibility
policies for participation in extracurricular activities,
please refer to the Students
Handbook.
