Angie M. Houtz Memorial Fund, The June

CRITERIA: 3.0 overall GPA (calculated on a 4.0 scale). High school
senior or college student. Must volunteer in the community--beyond
the current high school graduation requirements. Must attend, or
plan to attend,~a two-year or four-year college program in a Maryland
State undergraduate public facility.

The Angie M. Houtz Memorial Fund was established after the terrorist
attacks of September 11, 2001. Angie was a victim. An exceptional

Offered by the Ashley Foundation in memory of Ashley Tamburri.
The purpose of the two $1000 awards is to encourage graduating
seniors who are either cancer survivors or are currently
coping with a cancer diagnosis to pursue their educational

AWARD: Awards will assist with tuition and/or school related
expenses. The Bernie is a scholarship fund to assist people
of low and moderate income who live in Montgomery County,
Maryland, and who receive housing assistance from The Housing
Opportunities Commission (HOC) or live in housing owned or
managed by Rockville Housing Enterprises or Edgewood Management
Corporation. This scholarship program is for residents who
seek vocational or academic training.
ELIGIBILITY: Resident of Montgomery County, Maryland. Live
in housing owned, managed or administered by HOC, Rockville
Housing Enterprises, or Edgewood Management Corporation. Total
household annual income must not exceed $45,000. Must be either
a high school senior, in college or vocational school, or
planning to return to school and applying for academic or

Boston University “Trustee Scholarship Competition” December
DEADLINE: December 1
AWARD: Each Scholar receives a renewable scholarship
for full tuition and mandatory fees (which in 2001-2002 will
amount to more than $25,000.
SUGGESTED CRITERIA: 3.50 high school GPA or better in a highly
demanding college preparatory curriculum. A class rank
in top 5 percent. A combined score of at least 1400
on the SAT I Reasoning Test or 32 on the ACT. By any
measure, Trustee Scholars are an academically gifted group
of students. They are typically in the top 2 percent of their
high school classes — many with perfect 4.00 grade point averages.
Their average score on the SAT I: Reasoning Test is 1485,
and the ACT average score is 33. Trustee Scholars had a high
school GPA of 3.93, a record of distinctive and significant
contributions to the high school or larger community, and
a passion for learning within the classroom and beyond.
NOMINATION REQUIRED: Trustee Scholars are selected from high
school students who have been nominated by their principal
or counselor.

DEADLINE: Two scholarships awarded per quarter
AWARD: eight $5000 scholarships, 24 personal computers, and
software
CRITERIA: Brainstorm, USA, a marketer of educational products
and services, sponsors this contest, which requires each child
to describe his or her dream and how a parent, teacher, advisor,
sibling, grandparent, or friend has been helpful to them.
Then parents have to write how they helped make the child’s
come true. Entrants must achieve a 2.75 minimum GPA.

Burger King Scholars Foundation Award December
STUDENT DEADLINE: to Career Center, December 1

AWARD: $1,000
CRITERIA: One student per school.
NOMINATION required. Cumulative high school GPA of 2.5
to 3.5 maximum (on a 4.0 scale). Work part-time an average
of 15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year (part-time, year round).
Demonstrated participation in community service and/or co-curricular
activities. Demonstrated financial need. Written
recommendation from school’s counselor or principal and
the student’s employer, (who is not related to the student).

NOTE: The student does not have to be employed by Burger King
to be eligible. This scholarship program differs from
others in that Burger King is not looking for the top academic
student. Instead, Burger King is seeking to assist students
who are generally great kids whose academic credentials fall
with the GPA range of 2.5 to 3.5, primarily due to their need
to work part-time (or students who cannot work due to a physical
disability or because they help care for sick a family member.)

28 ACT or higher. 3.5 GPA. Rank in top 20% of

Leadership/Service Scholarships
Up to six students from BCC can receive major scholarships
to The Catholic University of America based on the nomination
of a school official. There is no limit to the number of
students who apply.

Conclave Music Business Scholarship March
Award: The full tuition scholarship covers remaining tuition
(after any federal or state grant funding) to obtain the Associate
of Applied Science Degree in Music Business, a scholarship

Description: The Conclave Music Business Scholarship is a
full-tuition scholarship presented to one incoming Musictech
College music business student each academic year. This prestigious
award is granted to the applicant who
1) best demonstrates his or her ambition to pursue a career
in the music industry;

3) demonstrates financial need.
Eligible Applicants: Any student who has applied for admission
to Musictech College’s Music Business Program starting
classes in the fall.
The scholarship recipient will not be notified until he or
she is accepted to the college. The scholarship winner will
be notified in late April and will receive the award at the
annual Conclave Learning Conference in July. The winner is
encouraged to attend The Conclave and will receive a stipend
to help cover travel and lodging expenses. The Conclave will

assistance. Available starting dates vary for each school,
beginning as early as the summer. A panel made up
of members of the Board of Directors of the Conclave and
Conclave advisors will choose the winning candidates.
Radio scholarships are for those who want careers in any
area of radio/broadcasting - air personality, advertising/sales,
programming, writing, news, sports, production, etc. Anyone
- regardless of sex, race or religious belief - may enter.
Winners will be notified by mid-April.
The scholarships
will be awarded at the 29th annual Conclave Learning Conference
to be held in Minneapolis, July 15-18. The winner
is encouraged to attend the Conclave, and will receive a
