BCCnet, the Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School e-mail network for
families and teachers of B-CC students, was founded in August
1999 and now has over 1600 members, and growing! BCCnet allows
any member to send e-mail to the whole list of members. Similar
to networks for a number of other schools in Montgomery County,
including Westland Middle School, BCCnet is for communicating
about school matters and education in general. BCCnet is a supplementary
medium of communication; it does not replace any of the other
methods used to pass the word from the school or the PTSA.
The school and the PTSA strongly recommend that
parents take issues with individual teachers or administrators
about their kids or policies directly to the person who knows
the most about it.
BCCnet is not moderated. (Nobody reviews messages before they
are posted.) When people apply to join, we check to make sure
they are BCC families. Only members can post messages, receive
messages, or review messages on the Yahoo Groups web site at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bccnet.
USING BCCNET
NOTE: The first time you use the Yahoo Groups website
for anything, you have to register and record a password, even
if youve already been receiving and sending messages from/tobccnet

| DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS
- Open up your web Browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.)
- Go to the B-CC
web site, http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/schools/bcchs/
- You might want to bookmark the page or add it to your Favorites
list.
- Click on the link on the left for "PTSA" page
- Click on the link on the right of the screen for "BCCnet
is B-CC's email network group" page
- Type your e-mail address in the box that says "Enter email
address" and press the Enter key.
- You will see a confirmation screen that tells you to check
for the confirmation e-mail.
- When you receive the confirmation e-mail, click on the link
provided in the body of the message or copy the link into the
address bar of your web browser.
- When that link opens a YahooGroups web page, look at the bottom
of the page and click on the "join the mailing list Instead"
link.
- That will open a screen in which you can make a "Comment
to Owner". You MUST enter your name. If you are the parent
or a student at B-CC (or soon-to-be), enter your child's name,
grade, and current school. If you are not the parent of a B-CC
(or soon to be) student, please describe your connection to B-CC
and why you want to be on the list. If you do not provide this
information, it will significantly delay your approval for BCCnet
membership. Click on "Continue" when you are done.
- Once you submit that information, you should receive a message
within a day or two informing you that you have been subscribed
(assuming you qualify). At that point, you are a member of BCCnet.
- If you have questions or problems, please contact Ardoth Hassler
(ardoth@earthlink.net) or Mark Paster (mpaster@earthlink.net).
